Starting XI: Ghana v DR Congo

2013 Africa Cup of Nations
Teams: Ghana v DR Congo
Date: 20 January 2013
Venue: Nelson Mandela Bay
Referee: Daniel Bennet
The Black Stars of Ghana will be hoping to get their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations campaign off to a bright start when they meet Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday.
Ghana were last crowned kings of Africa back in 1982, but have twice finished runners-up - including in the 2010 tournament in Angola.
After a stellar run in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Ghana were one of the favourites to claim the title last time around, but failed to find their best form.
Coming into the game though, the Black Stars hammered Egypt 3-0 before fighting back to thrash Tunisia 4-2 in warm-up matches.
Asamoah Gyan will be a key figure upfront but Ghana were sweating on the fitness of some of their other players ahead of the match.
The Leopards, on the other hand, suffered a blow just before the tournament when coach Claude Le Roy was reportedly involved in a row with the football federation in the country and reports claimed that he handed in his resignation.
They did receive a boost on the field though as Lomana LuaLua returned to the side and is set to lead them out in their opening game.
This is how they line up:
Ghana: Fatau Dauda, John Pantsil, Jerry Akaminko, John Boye, Kwadwo Asamoah, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Derek Boateng, Albert Adomah, Christian Atsu, Mubarak Wakaso, Asamoah Gyan.
Congo DR: Robert Kidiaba, Mpeko Issama, Larrys Mabiala, Cedric Mongungu, Kritcho Kasusula, Cedric Makiadi, Youssouf Mulumbu, Mulota Kabangu, Mabi Mputu, Dieumerci Mbokani, Lomana LuaLua.
