Stars Snap Up Former Chiefs Prospect
31 January 2012
Platinum Stars have signed Sipho Jembula from Kaizer Chiefs’ Vodacom feeder side, Soweto Panthers.
The 25-year-old was on the Amakhosi books as a youngster and, until he was snapped up by Stars, had been playing for Panthers. Dikwena’s general manger, Jason Raine, confirmed the signing with the Siya crew.
“Yeah, we signed him. He’s a wide player, good on both wings, he’s a very similar player to (Joseph) Molangoane. We saw him in a tournament and he was asked to come through and the coach was happy with what he saw. I think he’s got a good future ahead of him, I know you don’t say that much about 25-year-old but I think he could be a rough diamond that just needs polishing,” said Raine.
Jembula is not the first new face to join the Phokeng-based club during the January transfer widow, as the winger links up with the likes of Lucas Thwala, Chiukepo Msowoya and Patrick Malokase in Owen Da Gama’s ranks.
The club is also looking at the possibility of signing Tshepo Moloto, who is currently on trial at the side.
