Sambu Faced With Stars Exit
22 February 2012
News reaching the Siya crew’s desk is that Platinum Stars defender Mbuyiselo Sambu is expected to leave the club at the end of the 2011/12 campaign.
With Sambu being one of the top earners at the Phokeng-based outfit, according to Soccer-Laduma sources, the club is unhappy with the former Bloemfontein Celtic player’s recent performances. Sambu has already been stripped of his captaincy, following the side’s dismal showing in their 3-2 loss against Ajax Cape Town.
Stars through the game against the Urban Warriors in Cape Town away, after conceding two late goals and handing Ajax the win in the dying minutes of injury time.
With the latest developments at the club, it seems Sambu has taken the heat for the defence's lack of focus and indications are that he will be allowed to leave at the end of the season.
“He is expensive and is not delivering for the club and lately he has been seen as the weakest link confirming the rumour that he is facing the exit door,” said a Soccer-Laduma source.
