SA players abroad weekend review
12 February 2012
The icy conditions in England meant Kagiso Dikgacoi's Crystal Palace had the weekend off as their fixture against Doncaster was postponed.
Aaron Mokoena was an unused substitute as Portsmouth were held to a 1-1 draw with Blackpool at Bloomfield Road. Erik Huseklepp opened for Pompey on 44 minutes, but Pool were level on 77 minutes when Stephen Crainey's free-kick found the net.
Thulani Serero's Ajax Amsterdam picked up a 2-0 victory over NAC Breda in the Dutch Eredivisie thanks to goals from Dmitry Bulykin and Nicolas Lodeiro. However, the South African midfielder failed to make it into manager Frank de Boer's squad for the day.
Also in Holland, Kamohelo Mokotjo played a brief cameo off the bench for Feyenoord as John Guidetti's hat-trick gave his side a 3-1 victory over Vitesse. The former SuperSport United player was a 37th minute substitute in the victory.
Darren Keet's KV Kortrijk played to a 2-2 draw with RAEC Bergen in the Belgian Jupiler League, but the goalkeeper stayed on the bench as Kristof van Hout continues to keep the number one spot.
Siboniso Gaxa and Daylon Claasen both started for Lierse as they edged Zulte-Waregem 2-1 on Saturday, but there was no place in the squad for Lance Davids.
Anele Ngongca played 90 minutes for Genk, but his side lost 1-0 to a Lokeran side which had youngster Ayanda Patosi come on for a stretch of the legs deep into stoppage time.
