Rapids' Initial Diouf Bid Turned Down
09 July 2012
According to Siya crew sources, Maritzburg United have turned down a bid of around R3 million from Colorado Rapids for their defender, Mor Diouf.
The crew reported on Monday that the MLS side were weighing up a bid for the talented Senegalese defender, and the latest development is that The Team of Choice have rejected the club’s original offer.
Diouf, 23, was in sensational form for the Pietermaritzburg-based side this season and played every minute of their PSL campaign, the only player in the league to do so.
A source revealed, “Colorado made an offer of R3 million for Diouf, however the club weren’t happy with the structure of the payment.”
It is doubtful that the club will stand in the player’s way should a deal that they are happy with come in and they have already explained that they know Diouf is keen for a move abroad and that they are willing to help him in his quest if they can.
A fresh bid from the Rapids is expected to be tabled in the foreseeable future.
