PSL Focus: Pirates v SuperSport
03 December 2011
Teams: Orlando Pirates v SuperSport United
Venue: Orlando Stadium
Time: 20h15, 03 December 2011
Channel: SuperSport 4 and SABC 1
In what is arguably the most anticipated game of today’s PSL action, current league champions, Orlando Pirates, host the current log leaders SuperSport United at the Orlando Stadium.
SuperSport United is the only team in the Absa Premiership not to have lost a game this season, and although they will be looking to maintain that impressive record, the Sea Robbers will be aiming to end it in front of their home fans.
In midweek both teams collected three points from their respective games with Pirates beating Ajax Cape Town, while United overcame Kaizer Chiefs. Confidence in both camps will be high, with the three points at stake.
Pirates’ captain, Lucky Lekgwathi, told the Siya crew that they will be taking one game at a time as they continue the fight to defend their league title.
“We have been having ups and downs but we have not given up on anything at all. We are the defending champions and it will always be difficult playing any team as they come hard on us. We are coping with that and we have to continue playing our game that brings us points. It will be the same against SuperSport and we are making sure we come out with three points playing at home,” Lekgwathi said.
Morgan Gould, who missed the Chiefs game due to suspension, returns to the team and will be expected to keep a close eye on Benni McCarthy.
“We will not be playing one man but the whole team and that gives us the chance to concentrate on our game as well. We want to remain on top at the end of the week and to do that we have to win and contain Pirates,” the Bafana Bafana defender said.
Last season when SuperSport visited the Orlando Stadium a Morgan Gould header separated the two sides. Who will it be tonight?
