Neeskens Upbeat Ahead Of TKO Final
29 November 2012
Earlier in the season Mamelodi Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens stated that if he does not clinch silverware this season, he would step down from his role.
On Saturday the Dutch legend has the opportunity to lift a trophy when Sundowns take on Bloemfontein Celtic in the Telkom Knockout final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
The Chloorkop-based outfit has struggled in this season’s league campaign, however Neeskens is content with the manner in which they have reached the final and is confident that they can triumph in KwaZulu-Natal.
The former Barcelona midfielder admits that he rested some of his players in last weekend’s Absa Premiership win over Siwelele and is wanting to carry the momentum into Saturday’s final.
"We are looking forward to the final. We played a good game on Sunday and we want to do the same on Saturday. We rested some players in the league game because we didn't want to risk our players. I was happy with the performance and happy to be in the final.
"You know every game is a turning point for us and we would love to lift the trophy. We will work hard for that and achieve it," the Dutch legend concluded.
