Mphela: We Need The Support
10 January 2013
Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego "Killer" Mphela was part of the team that lost 1-0 to Norway in Cape Town on Tuesday. Despite failing to find the back of the net, the forward is optimistic that the team will find their form for the upcoming African Cup of Nations.
Killer believes that the team will come good for the African show piece which starts next week Saturday when South Africa, as the host nation, take on Cape Verde in the opening game at the National Stadium (FNB Stadium).
The Sundowns man said that the team is working on their final ball and aiming to be more clinical in front of goal.
"It was bad that we didn't win against Norway but we are working hard as a team and I know things will be alright in the tournament. What we need is the support from the supporters, they should come to the stadium like they did in Cape Town.
“We need their support. We will do our best on our part and we want to make the country proud," Mphela expressed.

To show that they(SAFA executive) don't care about the national team is the fact that they took a very long time to appoint an Under 23 coach after sacking Steve Komphela, and that is supposed to be a Bafana feeder team. That is our development,by then they were busy fighting for positions(the presidency). We are going to take part in the Afcon tournament now, again SAFA's executive are fighting among each other. Now guys do you really see where the problem is? Which team's performance on earth is not affected by internal management squbles? A living example is Ajax Cape Town's recent spat by the management, look at their performance in the field, they fight relegation!

Guys i really think Bafana's problem lies with the SAFA's executive. They don't care about the national team except for their own politics. The executive of old were ambitious, passionate and visionaries. Look guys, they led a team that won an Afcon tournament in 1996,we got a gold medal in 1998. Their support to the technical team was attested to by those achievements. A technical team made up of the likes of Eddie Lewis & others was appointed to analyze opponents, our achievements of then show that, the idea worked. Today's national team is left alone,to see how they swim their way out of this mud to success. This lack of support kills us guys and as long as the SAFA executive doesn't get their house in order,we'll continue pointing fingers at each other!

Bafana Bafana @Cape Town Stadium played very well but missed clear cut chances. People are supporting Bafana Bafana 100% but the same Bafana is not showing any composure infront of goals. I predict Bafana will not proceed to group stages. I don't see Bafana winning against Angola and Morocco really. You can draw with Cape Verde we all know that.
