Maritzburg Still Assessing Duo
08 February 2012
Maritzburg United will not be rushed into making a decision on the duo of Shane Poggenpoel and Leroy Maluka, who are currently training with the club.
The pair began trials with Maritzburg last week and the club’s chairman, Farook Kadodia, has insisted that they are taking their time with making a decision on them.
Kadodia told the Siya crew, “They haven’t played for a long time, so we’re going to give them another week, then we’ll see. It’s too early to say at the minute, we don’t particularly need a central midfielder like Shane, but we can still look at whether he could add something. We don’t want to jump to a decision.”
Poggenpoel, 27, has been looking for a side since being released from SuperSport United while Maluka, 26, was playing for Turun Palloseura in Finland before opting to return to the country of his birth.
It is yet to be seen whether the new coach at The Team Of Choice, Ernst Middendorp, will judge the pair good enough to add strength to his squad.
