Malian On Trial At Chiefs

The Siya crew can reveal that Valery Sanou has started training with Kaizer Chiefs. The Malian national started training with the Naturena-based club on Tuesday afternoon (yesterday), in the hope of securing a contract in the PSL.
Sanou was initially expected to attend a trial with Ajax Cape Town although he ended up at NFD outfit Vasco Da Gama, before Chiefs were made aware of his availability and subsequently invited him for a trial.
Although the Chiefs players are on leave, as the rest of the domestic football fraternity, the coach and the technical team are hard at work as they assess players in preparation of the new season.
According to the player’s agent, Sipho Joyce, the 22-year-old was impressive at Vasco but had to fly to Johannesburg on Monday night to begin his trial with the Amakhosi.
“That’s true I have a Malian that’s in the country for trials. He is at Kaizer Chiefs at the moment. He went there on Monday and started training with them Tuesday, in their afternoon session for trialists.
“His name is Valery Sanou and he is a big boy in the mould of Raphael Chukwu. He is even better because he is skilful and he has pace. He has got everything needed from a striker and Tony (de Nobrega) at Vasco can attest to that. He played in a friendly game for Vasco against Ajax last week and did well.
“He arrived for trials at Ajax but the team was in Polokwane for their game against Black Leopards on his arrival. He was with them only for one day and then we got a call from Chiefs showing interest and we took it from there with the player having already trained at Vasco as well,” said Joyce.
According to the crew’s investigation, the player has a connection to Burkina Faso but his agent clarified the matter, saying that his parents are from Mali and Burkina Faso respectively.
