Khune: I Could Not See The Ball
11 September 2011
Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Ithumeleng Khune let in a goal during extra time of last night’s MTN8 final in Soweto, which at first seemed to be an error of judgement from his side.
Oupa Manyisa’s long-range effort which handed Orlando Pirates the 1-0 win, should have been a routine save by South Africa’s number one goalkeeper, although Khune explained after the game that his vision was blocked and he caught the ball’s flight too late.
South Africa’s first choice keeper told the Siya crew that they failed to close their opponents down, which led to the goal.
"We were not closing them down mainly in the midfield. Even the goal came as a result of that. We cleared the ball away but could not get the second ball and Manyisa was there.
“Not taking anything away from him, it was a beautiful goal but I was blocked by my players and I could not see the ball. When I saw it, it was too late but you saw I touched the ball so if I had seen it earlier, maybe I could have saved it.
“As for the disallowed goal there is nothing I can say, the referee said there was a foul. I don't know what it was," Khune concluded.

khune u suppose not 2 worry about ppl who don't understand football that is a win or lose. Every game that I watch when a team loses I call it, its a mistake bcoz why no team needs 2 lose. If they blame u where were the middle fielders@defenders, u r the last person but where ur front four nd the middle four. So pls focus on the next game nd 4get about mtn8 final, we behind u boys.
