Heerenveen Enter Race For Mahlangu
11 January 2013
The interest in Helsingborg FC and Bafana Bafana midfielder May Mahlangu has been amplified, with Dutch side Heerenveen making enquiries into the player’s availability.
Mahlangu is currently in camp with his Bafana teammates in preparation for the African Cup of Nations, scheduled to commence on January 19.
The Siya crew recently reported that the Secunda-born player has attracted interest from French Ligue 1 side Valenciennes, with discussions between the respective parties having already been initiated.
However, the latest news reaching the Siya crew is that Heerenveen are keen on bringing the highly-rated youngster to the Netherlands, with an exit away from Sweden looking likely for Mahlangu.
The 23-year-old will be looking to shine in Gordon Igesund’s Bafana team during the Afcon, which will undoubtedly enhance the chances of a move to one of Europe's more established leagues.
Mahlangu has got one year left to run on his deal with Helsingborg, and the club will be looking to cash in on the former Swedish Player of the Year.

May Mahlangu is the best midfield that GI have selected but after Thulani Serero...im talking about a player is is not afraid of competition abroad; remember B Vilakazi, Tsepo Masilela; B Fransman; B Parker etc these are players u call the best but thy couldnt stand the least leagues in Europe yet thy are the best to u,a fool like some of u guys will deny tht May Mahlangu is class!

Give the man break and stop this nonsense. May has not been given a fair chance like Myeni, who just wont fit in the national team and yet no one even tries to bad mouth him. Again, Pienaar, Mahlangu, Khumalo, Dikgacoi and recently Serero and Ncqoncqa are all cows just because they dont play locally. Yes they dont play then same way as they do when they are overseas but it's only because they play with different quality
