Da Rocha To Undergo The Knife
03 February 2012
Golden Arrows’ Brazilian goalkeeper, Helton Da Rocha, is set to have an operation to mend a niggling injury. Da Rocha, who until recently had been the number one goalkeeper at the club, is set to go for a shoulder operation in Cape Town before returning to Durban to recover.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper will, in all likeliness, take a back seat at Abafana Bes’thende which will give him time to rehabilitate the shoulder. Coach Muhsin Ertugral has brought in two keepers since his arrival, with Andre Petim and Stephan Loboue having joined the KwaZulu Natal team, which will give him choices between the sticks.
The club’s spokesman, Vusi Vilakazi, confirmed that the Brazilian will be operated on. He explained, “He is going for an operation some time this month, it’s a shoulder injury that he’s had for a while, he’ll go for the operation in Cape Town but then he’ll return to Durban straight after.”
It is still uncertain who will be Ertugral’s first choice goalkeeper when the PSL reconvenes later this month, with Petim and Loboue both making strong claims for the position.
