Da Gama Ignoring Relegation Threat
22 February 2012
After suffering their tenth defeat of the season Platinum Stars coach Owen da Gama is confident his side will avoid relegation come the end of the season.
Dikwena were humbled 4-3 by Orlando Pirates at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Wednesday, but da Gama insists the club just needs one win to spur the side on to further success.
"We've scored five goals in two games. Two against Ajax and not many teams score three against Orlando Pirates so we're on the right track. I've always said we just need that one evasive win," said da Gama.
"Someone is going to pay for this. I don't know who, but someone will pay."
The former Pirates tactician was happy with the way his side performed, but admitted Bucanneers goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs was the difference between the two sides.
"Man of the match was Moeneeb Josephs. With the amount of saves he made, it could have been a huge tally today," added da Gama.
"So I say well done to my boys. We could have taken advantage of the situation when we were 2-1 ahead, but if you look at the chances we created and the types of saves he had to make, I'm very proud of these boys. It's a new team and we trying to assemble them and make sure everyone fits in.
"If you look at our goals, they were suberb goals and with Moeneeb being man of the match it just shows you that a goalkeeper can sometimes be the difference between winning and losing a match."

Pirates fans are full of themselves, they think their team is gr8est 2 ever play in Mzansi... But I dont blame them. They have every trophy in the PSL, they fill up stadiums wherever they play... What makes them big headed is what pises me off- every PSL coach finds nothing wrong in losing against pirates "we lost but its Pirates we played" every coach goes into a match against pirates expecting 2 lose, 2 them a lose against pirates is gud... A draw is gr8. As a soccer player nd a fan, id be very angry @ ma coach coz hes installing a losing mentality in ma head., losing is losing no matter what the score is, if u lose u lose.
