Bucs, Ntuli Deal Done
30 January 2013
Orlando Pirates chairman, Irvin Khoza, is set to meet with Nhlakanipho Ntuli later today (Wednesday) to finalise a deal that will see the youngster join the first team for the remainder of the season.
The club’s development product has been training with the Bucs side as part of a programme to prepare him for a senior contract at FC Twente in the Netherlands.
However, the youngster has used the opportunity to impress Pirates coach Roger de Sa and his technical team with his superb displays at training and during the Gauteng Reserve League games.
Soccer-Laduma reported in issue 805 that the 17-year-old could be promoted to the PSL side following his impressive performances while training with the defending league champions, with the deal now done.
“He will be signing with the first team. The club spoke to the player’s agent (Mike Makaab) and reached an agreement. The player is happy about it. The plan to send him overseas hasn’t changed.
“They felt that he should sign a short-term contract with the club. FC Twente has been consulted about it and they agreed. The player has a meeting with the chairman later today,” said a source.
Speaking to the crew, Makaab explained, “Ntuli has signed for Orlando Pirates and will play for them until the end of the season, then he’ll go to Holland. He’ll then come back for the start of next season and they stay with Pirates until he’s 18. Once he turns 18 then he’ll sign for Twente outright.”
Ntuli is set to join Twente in the Eredivisie when he turns 18, in February of next year. In the meantime, the talented midfielder is set to sign a six-month PSL contract with Pirates.
