Bucs Conclude Manqana & Matlaba Deals
16 January 2012
Orlando Pirates have secured the services of two of their targets, in Njabulo Manqana and Thabo Matlaba.
The club announced on their official website that they have concluded deals with the two players which will see them turn out in the black and white of the Sea Robbers come the start of the second round of the 2011/12 season.
Thabo Matlaba has been signed from Free State Stars and is expected to be used as cover in the left-back position, although can play in the midfield too. The 24-year-old utility player was voted by his teammates as the club’s Players’ Player of the Season last campaign.
25-year-old Manqana joins the Julio Leal-coached outfit from Golden Arrows after having been linked with a move to Soweto since the start of the January transfer window. The AmaZulu juniors product has established himself as one of the most consistent performers in the PSL and will undoubtedly add value to the Bucs squad.
It was revealed earlier today on the Soccer-Laduma web and mobi-site that Pirates midfielder Clifford Ngobeni would be undergoing a medical examination with Golden Arrows tomorrow morning (Tuesday).
The club has now confirmed that the 24-year-old has been cleared to enter into talks with the Durban-based club, and with Manqana having penned a deal with Pirates, it seems the writing is on the wall and Ngobeni will in all likeliness join the Muhsin Ertugral-coached side.
Manqana and Matlaba are expected to join their new teammates tomorrow morning where they will be put through their paces.

I believe in lucas thwala, ngobeni & doutie. These guys are good but i dnt knw why they dnt play. Thwala haunts nani & ronaldo to this day. Doutie is in africa's best u23 eleven. Ngobeni's passing, intelligence and awareness is 2nd to none here in mzansi. He reminds me of obi mikel. He knws hw to slow a game's tempo. Its sad times 4 my favorites.
