AmaZulu Sign Young Striker
30 January 2012
In their bid to add depth to their striking force, AmaZulu have promoted young Siyabonga Thwala from their development structures. The 17-year-old striker has been promoted from AmaZulu’s feeder team, Durban Warriors, who play in the Vodacom League.
AmaZulu have been searching for a striker for some time now and their attempts included talking to Wits’ Sifiso Vilakazi although the deal failed to materialise.
The club’s communications manager, Philani Mabaso, confirmed the signing of the talented youngster.
“Yes, he has signed with the first team from Durban Warriors. He has been training with the first team for some time but he was playing for Warriors. So, he was training with the team on weekdays and was playing for Warriors on the weekends.
“The coach (Roger Palmgren) felt like why keep him there (Warriors) with so much potential? He has been scoring goals left, right and centre in the Vodacom League so as you know we have been looking for a striker. I’m not saying he will be the solution just yet but all I’m saying is that he has the potential,” said Mabaso.
Thwala has signed a three-and-half-year deal with Usuthu after scoring seven goals in last season’s campaign for Warriors.

"he has been scoring goals left, right and centre" 7 goals? Is scoring 7 goals the whole season "left right and centre"? No mediocre is taken to another level here.

Great move. The boy is a great talent but he needs to adjust his attitude in order to achieve great things. I've known him since he was 14 & I never doubted his potential.GOODLUCK
