AmaZulu Sign Lekata
31 January 2012
The Siya crew can reveal that AmaZulu have signed striker Joseph Lekata from FC Cape Town. The former Black Leopards player is currently one of the top goal scorers in the NFD this season, having netted six times for the Cape side.
The 24-year-old has signed a two-and-half-year deal with the KZN-based side, with the club’s general manager, Peter O’Connor, confirming the signing with the Siya crew.
AmaZulu recently promoted young Siyabonga Thwala from their Vodacom League feeder team, Durban Warriors, as reported on the Soccer-Laduma web and mobi-site.
Roger Palmgren’s side is currently in 10th position on the Absa Premiership log, after winning five, drawing five and losing five league games in the first half of the 2011/12 campaign.
The Swedish mentor has identified the team’s striking department as one of the areas that need strengthening in order to compete in the league and he is hoping that Lekata will have an immediate impact on the team.
