AmaZulu Reject Downs Offer For Sangweni

The Siya crew has it on good authority that Mamelodi Sundowns were interested in the services of AmaZulu enterprising midfielder, Thamsanqa Sangweni, but were turned down by their KZN counterparts when they attempted to lure the player to Chloorkop.
According to the player’s representative, Ali Tlhoaele, the Empangeni-born player is unhappy on the lost opportunity to further his career at the side with some of the best players in the country.
“Sundowns were interested in buying the player from AmaZulu. They made an offer to the club through me but AmaZulu refused saying that Thami is not for Sale. It was the player’s wish to nourish his career in Gauteng and face new challenges. Now he is very sad about the refusal from his club,” said Tlhoaele.
Sangweni’s game has improved this season. He is a regular in the South African national U23 team. Bafana Bafana coach, Pitso Mosimane, recognises the improvement in his performances.
He called him for the first time in his team for the friendly games played by the side recently. AmaZulu communications manager, Philani Mabaso, confirmed the interest in the player.
“Yes, there is interest in the player from two local clubs and one international club. Unfortunately, we told them that we have no plans of releasing him at this stage. He still has a pivotal role to play in our team. If you check, you will see that we haven’t released many of our on-form players because we anticipate tough games in the second round,” said Mabaso.
The Siya crew can confirm that the second local club interested in Sangweni is Kaizer Chiefs.
