AmaZulu Extend Kasonga’s Stay
26 January 2012
News making its way to the Siya crew is that AmaZulu have extended Belux Kasonga’s contract for one more season. The DR Congo defender has been one of the stalwarts in AmaZulu’s defence over the past few seasons, and has been rewarded for his efforts.
He joined the side in 2006 following a short stint at Platinum Stars. Before that, the 32-year-old player was at Ajax Cape Town in the Mother City.
The player’s agent, Ali Tlhoaele, confirmed the former AS Vita Club player’s contract extension. “The club has decided to extend his contract with one year and they also offered him an option for a second year,” said Tlhoaele.
Following a slow start to the season under former coach Manqoba Mngqithi, Kasonga has forced his way into Roger Palmgren’s team with success. He has played in all of AmaZulu’s last 10 league games, since the Swedish mentor took over at the helm.
