i was very disapointed with d way bafana played, long balls r nt SA futbol. We shuld play our passing game n try to improve on d final 3rd. If GI can partner yeye n ace in d centre, am sure we gona have more creativity. Shaba must make way for serero on d left, since we dnt have a natural left winger. An attacking 4-4-2 with majoro n mphela upront. Overall we can improve bt it nt going to b easy

If anyone's got a chance in Hell of rescuing the virgins from the evil clutches of London derby, and escaping from Frogtown - it's Morena. This is literally not even the half of it. In any good tragedy, there needs to be comic relief to offer counterpoint that's what Torres finishing was for. A psychologist might tell you (if you paid them enough) that a dramatic change of hairstyle is an indicator of a desire for a change of identity if not an actual identity crisis. I can't for the life of me see how this might be true of Torres however.

For all his brilliance, Guardiola inherited a Barça side that contained Messi, Xavi and Iniesta. They were exhilarating times once he had weeded out Ronaldinho and the other dressing room slackers and it is true that he produced something so artistic and thrilling he seduced us all. 'women want to be with him, men want to be him' was first coined. Unexpectedly, news surfaced Pep Guardiola signed a three-year deal with Bayern to take over in July, albeit no frustrated gnashing of teeth from those in the boardroom at Stamford Bridge as news filtered through from Munich that the most coveted coach in world football. That might sound surprising, given that Roman Abramovich had twice recently asked Guardiola to name his price to bring all that pizzazz for which his Barca team were renowned to the corner of south-west London. His decision has effectively thrust Mourinho, with whom Guardiola endured a fractious relationship in La Liga while in charge of Barça, into a stronger negotiating position should he end up leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season. Players are not stupids, they knw they have attitude but not character to win games. The bonus issue was more of knowing their performance than being corrupt on SAFA monies. If we play deep against Cape Verde how are we going compete with football nations like Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Niger who know our weakness better than Verde. They kept playing long balls, they don't have style and creativity. We don't have to put pressure on them because we knew they won't perform but for us to wait the next generation of players.
1.Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns Academies. How did they managed to run their academies so successful. Look at the quality of their products: Xulu, Mabaso, Dolly, Serero, Scott, etc.
2.An organised League, with all sponsorships lining up. Even though a lot should be done at NFD
Bad Side of Our Football
1. Quality of soccer dished out. Ted Dumitru said our players are confused by mediocre foreign coaching methodology. I seem to agree 2.The believe that foreign knows best. This has result in us having faith in average foreign coaches at the expense of our own.
3.Poor, poor, poor development. Our big team, Kaizer Chiefs last promoted a competent player in Itu Khune. Orlando Pirates youth win every competition they enter but why don't those players graduate to first team? In fact, where are they???? (Age cheating come to mind). Sundowns is running successful academy, they have promoted wonderful players who will end up warming the bench/released to make way for expensive players.
4.Money. Rumour has it that Downs want Billiat is worth R10million!! But really? That money might maybe have been used to upgrade Youth coaches @sundowns.
5. Parents. How can you allow Under 20 player to buy a car? This will lead to him be irresponsible and ill-disciplined
1. Revive School of Excellence
2. Prioritise participation in CAF Club competitions 3.High focus on Amaglug-glug and Amajita. The same as given to Bafana 4. Improve coaching education 5. Media should build players. E.g don't call for Ronwen Williams 's inclusion into BB while he has never even established himself in Amaglug-glug. The risk of giving him big head is huge. Just like Mambush in 1990s, Williams should know he is behind Khune he must work hard to take jersey from him. (Mambush was consistent scorer but behind pecking orders).
6. Maximum number of players a team can register, like in England. Too much quality would no longer be wasted @Mamelodi Sundowns 7. Increase number of foreign players. Yes increase the number. Our players will learn the words "Work Hard and be Disciplined".

I take my hat off to the greatest club in the world 4 the past few seasons-Barcelona.I was just perplexed when l read that Barca can put in a 1st XI made up of its youth development..Victor Alves,Montoya,Puyol,Pique,Jordi Alba,Busquet,Xavi,Iniesta,Fabregas,Messi nd Pedro.Mind you,you still have Alcantara,Tello and company waiting to pounce in.
Whenever MU lose or play a draw, according to mr Alex Ferguson, the referee and the linesmen on the day are very poor!Manchester is a very good team but the are some games they win with very dubious and questionable decisions from the match officials and that pleases mr Ferguson!stop being a cry baby sir!what goes around comes around!
We must try to do things properly in SA. Ghana took their U20 national side who went to the semi finalsin the 2010 World Cup and they were marvellous to watch.

We all have to believe that Bafana will make it and we don't hv 2 give up on our home boys!!!!!!shapa bafana shapa
It’s hard to accept the poor performance displayed by our boys. What’s even harder to accept is that we’ve got certain individuals with a lot of experience but they can’t exert their influence on the game for our benefit. Kg and Shabba are a liability to our cause. They share more than 100 caps between them but their general play is like that of players still finding their feet in the national team. Khumalo is no longer the player he was before he went to England. Matlaba, Majoro, Phala I can understand it’s their first major tournament. Killer and Cream(Serero) are still short of their sharpness. Khune and Ngcongca I can’t fault them. The two central defenders inability to play the ball out from the back also cost us. We should just admit that this group of players we have are just not up to it. What’s more disappointing is that the more experienced players hid themselves when crunch time came. Decision making in the final 3rd, weight of passes and link up play were poor. That being said we still have 6 points to play for, so I hope our boys will go out there and do us proud. STILL BEHIND YOU ALL THE WAY. GO BAFANA GO BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Team selection of GI highlights one thing either he doesn't have a his lineup or wanted to be relevant to Supporters. I mean where was the Major-Paka combination tested at international level ? Does scoring against Chippa or Black Leapords makes you the best in Africa. Every SA knows that the goal getter of Bafana is Katlego Mphela. People should not be decieved by those few chances he missed. Gyan missed a seater on PE, Van Persie does miss, Ronaldo does miss, do that makes them bad strikers ??? Khusta, Stellenbosch Downs Branch
Has SAFA paid the sangoma? This is something we can't ignore anymo. It shows the sangoma wasin't making threats but a promise that he wil curse Bafana Bafana.
MANY COACHES SUCH AS SANTANA.PERREIRA.PITSO.HAD FAILED TO REACH BAFANA TO THE RIGHT DESTINATION DUE TO THI SO CALLED-SAFA(SOUTH AFRICAN FAILING ASSOCIATION)AFTER THEY HAVE FAILED TO PAY THE SANGOMA.THEY PROMISED PLAYERS MILLIONS INSTEAD OF BALLANCING THEIR DEBTS.GORDON I BELIEVE AN TRUST YOU THAT YOU CAN TURN THINGS AROUND THREW THE SUPORT YOU GOT AROUND MZANSI.JUST IMAGINE THOUSANDS OF FANS WENT TO RAINY FNB STADIUM. THEY GET WET PLUZ A DRAW ITS A DOUBLE BLOW FOR THEM.THANKS TO TSO AS HES LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK TO HIS TALENT TO SECURE A BAFANA CHANCE.FROM MUSA MBHOKZEEN SIYANDHANI@
After sitting down and thinking about Bafana Bafana I heard myself saying "Thank you" maybe you asking yourself why I'm saying this, this is simple because we would be fooled by a win whereas our football is still rotten to the core. How many years have we been seeking "the easy way out" or "shortcuts" in the National Team? Let me cut the long story short, its highly disappointing to have players in that level having so many technical errors, don't even wanna mention the poor tactical superiority, it shows these players are just carrying natural talent, they were never properly developed as footballers at a young age, hence we don't even have players competing in top leagues around the world, there is no System in the country, development structure aren't empowered enough to be able to have the right resources to develop players, there's very limited Licensed/knowledgeable youth coaches. It is really heart breaking to see the nation having false hopes on a team that can't compete in the World Stage. To be world beaters, we need to get the basics right, have a solid youth system, proper talent identification structure, have the right people with the right knowledge to run our football. How many PSL Clubs have proper youth developments operating? Only AJAX, even the biggest giants of SA Football don't have any concrete structure in place. What is being done about this? In conclusion, I will take Musa's words, let's shut the door for at least 7 years and start investing on youth development, we must forget about "winning" major tournaments but rather focus on developing a team, from the Junior national level, even other development structure in place around the country because that is where the talent is. We have to identify our own style of play, philosophy, implement all plans in books (SAFA Master Technical Plan) etc. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, we ranked #87 by FIFA for a reason, it time to change.

Our team bafana bafana player running for running, dribbling for dribbling, passing for passing. But, how, when, why, to do it. They lack application, perception. This is not good for the team. Yours in sport fana tshabangu..
Bafana Bafana again failed to beat lowly ranked unknown Cape Verde,Who are they going to defeat in this ACN.Peter Mdokies.Turfloop
It’s unacceptable that we cannot fold our arms & keep on saying,we going back to the drawing board or we still building the squad. Are we going to keep on defending these lazy & under performing players again? Not because I'm a bad loser as it may sound like that, but nowadays people will flock to watch Chiefs & Pirates than watch our national team, why?Their performance against Cape Verde leaves many questions to be answered.Players who deserved to be there were only few,Siyabonga Sangweni,Bongani Khumalo & Itu Khune & the rest were just adding numbers.SAFA must make research & tell us what's wrong with our national team.I am a South African citizen & played soccer even though I didn't play professional, that's why it concerns me when our national team becomes a laughing stock. We paid millions if not billions to Brazilian coaches during world cup but things are going from bad to worse.Amos Motloding,Jamela Village
I am very happy to know that even the analyst realised that SA does not have a left winger. That was my comment on Soccer Laduma issue 804 on page 6. David Minchella from Soccer Laduma on his analysis of the squad did mention some wing's concerns!! Done, rest my case, I was right. The perfomance of Bafana is far from being what we expect and that is why I sent my condolences in advance. Sorry SA I am not being paranoid as I am hurting like many of us because of this team.

i always warned South Africa about 4 things , 1 favoured by refrees playing small nations like mozambique , 2 undermining other nations , 3 to ask cameroon about Cape Verde , 4 to work very hard . Gordon , yo starting line up shows u undermined C/verde . start with Mahlangu , Serero , in yo next game . good game phala . Kingstone mlambo
This Afcon tournament has got glimpses of becoming such a fascinating showpiece(with or without Bafana), considering how some teams like Ghana/DRC appear to impose themselves thus far. Both teams are a marvel to watch as they could freely express themselves without any restraint whatsoever, which add spice into their play without showing much masculinity like their counterparts. As was proven by the Zambians in the previous edition that anything if the team could maintain cohesion and unity. Nigeria ought to rise from the ashes to reclaim it's lost super power status.
Loward Ziga-Khosa, Nkuri-Tomu
After watching South Africa vs Cape Verde game I realised how difficult and unpredictable group A will be. Bafana Bafana will surely need to be at their ultimate best to win the other two games judging by the performance of the other two teams. I still believe we will go through nevertheless. Vukani Masondo, eMfanefile
Sir Alex Ferguson once said in his team he needs about 7 to 8 players to be on top of their game to win the match. But in contrast to Bafana Bafana the whole team performed badly except for Khune and how can you expect to win the game. That team lacked creativity and clear goal scoring opportunities and we all know that in South Africa out of 5 clear cut chances created we only score one.
Luvuyo Zuma (Cape Town)
It looks like we gonna be in a situation where we depend on other teams results to qualify for the next round of the tournament. The only way to avoid that would be relying more on our tried and tested players by having more faith on them, that's my advice to our technical team. Good luck to them and the boys for the upcoming tough games.
Beaver Nazo e Khayelitsha
I think a 0-0 draw for Bafana against Cape Verde was a fair results beside playing on our backyard, Cape verde were not going to be a push over as many thought, they are the highest ranked team in the group and overcame the indomitable lions of cameroon to qualify for the tournament unlike Bafana who qualified by virtue of been hosts. Bafana failure to score is a true reflection of their preparation leading to the tournament, they were not scoring during preparations games and we can't expect them to score now out of nowhere, the sooner we accept Bafana were not ready for the tournament the better.
Rito Hlungwana, Xitlhelani
We have the best squad that could conquer africa !! But our 'achieved all' players are not giving their 120 % effort to make sure we become the powerhouse of this continent..mxm FRM;ChizeeLebz kale & Katlego Phepheng,Braamfisherville
I am a concerned South African there way our national team played in the opening match of the afcon against Cape Verde was shocking to say the least. There was no creativity in the midfield and no transition going forward I wonder is the so called “dream team” Mr coach I doubt very much. Also Mr coach Tshabalala is replaceable please the sooner you realize that the better for the nation by the way he was not suppose to be in the team.
Phumezile Gaxela, Kuilsriver,CPT
Bafana played very well on the second half and I think that now the first game is gone, the pressure is also gone from them. I strongly believe that we'll do better on our second game and qualify for the next round. Go Bafana Go and shown Africa what are we made of.
Bafana Bafana's uninspiring opening game of the biennial showpiece, Afcon13 was characterised by their inability to deal concisely with stage fright. The team need to rise to the occasion. Pound for pound, our boys are far much better technically and tactically compared to fellow African squads. Gordon must try to emphasise the significance of using their strength, of which is playing the ball from the ground and also do slow build ups commencing from the back. Although the lack of natural playmaker never helped the cause, as it seemed like that's where Cabo Verde exploited our ineffectiveness from while lodging their counter-attacks. Our wing play failed to yield any results, but there's no need for the nation to press the panic button as the progress to the quaterfinals is imminent.
Owen Mafukele-Valoyi, Nkuri-Tomu
It is heart what is happening to our national team, they look like a team, psl team. We don't have plan B. We should have started with Furman as Kagiso was not fit to start, why not Phela and Rantie upfront? Bongani Khumalo does not fit to lead our Bafana, is he mental strong. With his height we can't even capitalized on corner kicks, so disappointed in our captain. Again Matlaba is good player but with his high accelerate we should capitalized on that, but his final ball is always poor. We didn't look as host on the Saturday night..a goaless draw with the rookies was so disappointing. One should stop worrying about Bafana anymore, we should expect the unexpected. Morrocco and Angola looked solid and strong which could be difficult to get maximum points against them. Enough said, I rest my case mina jaha ra ka Magona.
Mikzo Mahesu, Hunguta Poto, Magona.
It is increasingly becoming impossible to pledge and devote one's support for the national soccer team. I was very upset with the performance of the team against Cape Verde. Some of the players do not deserve to don that jersey. The body language of some individuals in the team is very questionable! Only the technical team knows how we can score goals without any creative playmaker in the team. We were told this was a dream team yet we have failed to create any clear cut opportunities. I can only hope we take the two remaining games very seriously and try to finish top of the group, or even second just to qualify to the next round.
IT WAS VERY SAD TO SEE BAFANA BAFANA BEING HELD INTO A DRAW BUT ALL IS NOT LOST. AS A SUPPORT I WILL DO MY JOB AND SUPPORT THE TEAM AND HOPE FOR THE BEST AGAINST ANGOLA. I CANNOT PUT THE BLAME ON THE COACH BUT IF WE ARE TO WIN MATCHES WE NEED PLAYERS TO COME TO THE PARTY AND PLAY. OUR PLAYERS NEED TO BE MORE AGGRESSIVE BECAUSE TO ME IT SEEMS AS IF THEY ARE SCARED TO PLAY. I AM NOT CRYING OVER ANDILE JALI BUT THE TRUTH IS WE NEED SOMEONE WHO WILL HAVE A BIG HEART IN THE MIDDLE, WHO WILL BOSS THE MIDDLE THE WAY ANDILE JALI DOES FOR PIRATES. IN GORDEN I TRUST THAT HE KNOWS WHAT TO DO BECAUSE WE CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER EMBARRASMENT LIKE IT HAPPENED DURING THE WORLD CUP WHERE WE WERE KNOCKED OFF IN THE GROUP STAGES.

apart from bafana game, am very happy with d way afcon has been going.
Its been pure class, african futbol is on d rise. D passing, d movement, attacking, d saves, d goals etc. We going to witness one of d best afcon coz d players seem dedicated, maybe its d fact dat our fields remind dem of european fields. Am gona enjoy dis afcon.
South Africans must not expect miracles from this team because everything was so wrong about it. The selection of the National Team by Gordon Igesund lives much to be desired. For example, the omission of creative players such as Jali and Teko is coming back to haunt us. The person who should be blamed is the coach and media on this one as they hated Jali so much that they wrote negative things about him even though it was not truth and some issues were not soccer related issues. Gordon went out to select players because of such media comments. Players should be selected on merit and the truth is Jali is the best creative and defensive midfield player we have at the moment. Secondly we have a ball player in the name of Oupa Manyisa and Gordon is not using him. We also expected to see Tokelo Rantie and Katlego Mphela starting but the rest is history. Siphiwe Tshabalala and Dikgacoi never performed better than any players we have in the team but they are always selected - Why? Reputation will never win us games. This team is taking us nowhere. We are the laughing stock of African continent. We have all resources but we cannot play football and our football is having so much politics and certain team players are ignored because of they are not so popular with fans and media. Come the end of this week, we will be watching other countries on our soil without our team. That is the truth not a wish.
The performance of BB wasn’t convincing. Where is the problem? We aren’t scoring goals, relying on too many locally based players isn’t good. Only 3 overseas based players were included in the starting line-up. Gordon we support you but leaving Andile Jali out was a big blunder.
