Make Your Point

15 February 2012

What’s wrong with this madala pele? You had your time and you were the fine they will be no other again. Your point is taken. Stop being jealous. I would have loved to see your children playing, like watching the Ayew sons.
Dlalo Tabo

I never intended to see such embarrassment by Ghana. They started with some good performances though. Beaten 2-0 by Mali was not worth what we hoped for. Perceptively, I’m sure they will learn from their mistakes. Hard luck Black Stars, try harder next time!
Hebbyvine Mahwibila, Alexandra

Some other people don’t learn from their mistakes. I’m referring to Gyan always costing the Black Stars with his poor penalty taking. Time to grow up and forget about this hip/hop thing.
Dlalo Tabo

Congratulations to Zambia, I hear everyone saying they did southern Africa proud which to me it’s out of line. Zambia did Zambians proud and no one else.
Mduduzi Delihlazo, Plumtree

Well done Chipolopolo for winning the AFCON 2012, beating Ghana and Ivory Coast wasn't a fluke. The whole Southern Africa is proud of you. Congratulations!
Njabulo, Ndumo

The EPL title will go down to the wire considering how well Man City did without Yaya. My gut says the Red Devils will clinch it the dead but the Citizens will give us a run for our money. It'll go down to championship experience & Man U has plenty of it, so I foresee them clinching it. Let's be prepared for 1 of the mostly contested title in the EPL, glory Man United.
Ngoako Phooko Ngwanallela

All hail the copper bullets, for your impeccable run through-out the biennial African showpiece. Hence, they hoisted the SADC region's flag aloft. Zambia! Chipolopolo weee!
In memory of their loved ones, may their soul rest in peace!
Reminisce Junior Mafukele, Nkuri-Tomu

It was so good to see Chipolopolo honouring their 1993 fallen heroes in style against star studded Ivorians when nobody believed on then, which I did. One can agree with me that their (The dead) spirits were walking with them all the way from the day a tournament started until they lifted that cup. That win as well puts our PSL on the map, it shows that we can compete with the world but with determination of course and pity our Mzansi players totally don’t have such, they are spoiled brats if I can be allowed to say it. Bobby, we want Mayuka & Kalaba come end of the season so sign a pre-contract with them now since no team in SA wants to sell their players to us. I like Mamadou Gaye b’coz he’s a sharpshooter but I was happy to see his bullet coming back 2 hit his chest. Lol
Walter Netshiungani

The PSL resumes this coming Wednesday. I hope my team Pirates will take it from where they left and defend our title. We really need to keep it. With the quality that is in Pirates squad, they can win all the trophies in da PSL. The Iron Duke has really invested in the team with the quality he has brought 2 the team so the players has 2 repay him back by winning da remaining troughes. Up The Bucs.
Sibusiso Xolane Kunene,Pongola

Albeit it wasn't easy to prognosticate the outcome, Zambia, the copper bullets took the final by the scruff of its neck and stunned the star studded Cote d'ivore, as they punched above their weight. Chipolopolo engraved their name for annexing the prestigious trophy by trouncing the perennial under-achievers after a scintillating final. The tenacity of their skipper, 'warrant officer class1' Chris Katongo with his troops tireless efforts propelled by the spirit of the fallen heroes of 93 who lost their lives in a plane crash, at the shores of Gabon, just a stone throw away from where the actual game took place. It's been a fairytale run and helped reminisce about the escalation Zambia into being an African soccer powerhouse.
Owen Mafukele Valoyi, Nkuri-Tomu, Giyani

Winning the game before kicking the ball was never and will never be a through reflection at the end of the game. It is always good to have big names in the team but you also need to have a big Coach to manage those big names. Chipolopolo were there for a mission to honour their foot ball ancestors who crashed with the plane and they’ve been underdogs from group stages to the final and now are champions of Africa.
Ayanda Ngcatshe, Katlehong

Congratulations are in order for Zambia after defeating Ivory Coast on penalties to win their first African Cup of Nations ever. It was a very entertaining and tough game for both teams. It went down to the wire and the ones who wanted it the most were crowned champions. I'm very happy for them because they wanted to win it in memory of the lives that were lost back in 1993 in that plane crash. They truly deserve the win after they worked so hard to reach the final. It feels like it is Bafana who have won the tournament Well done guys and keep going.
Trevoricious Ntanjana

Oh what a final! I’m very proud of the Zambian team. They really outclassed the star studded Ivory Coast, the top ranked team in Africa. The likes of Chansa, Mayuka, Kalaba and C Katongo outplayed the likes of Yaya Toure, the African player of the year, Kalou, Gervinho and Drogba. You guys represented Southern Africa with pride. I also hope that even Bafana Bafana will keep it here in Southern Africa next year. Well done guys.
Sibusiso Xolane Kunene, Pongola

Well done to Zambia for their brilliant performance! They wrote a new book by wining for the first time. To Chansa if you’re happy my man then I became happier.
Thandi Zitha egutjwa

Well the spirit of the dead rose on Sunday night and carry Chipolopolo to the victory and that shows that if you believe in something it works for you. Congratulations to Zambia and thank you for lifting the flag of Southern Africa, what I like the most is that about 90% of Zambia players are playing here in South Africa and hope that Bafana Bafana has learn something from these.
Mxolisi

My team Barcelona's dreams of defending the league faded away this week, the way the team is playing against lowly side doesn’t worth winning the league and our rivalry. Real Madrid is not giving away points easily so it will be too hard for us to close down the gap. Let’s hope we can win the Uefa and Copa de la Rey.
Alonso, Mogale city

Big up 2 d guys who give it all for their country, d country who has a little resources than our beloved South Africa, when I see d fighting spirit on the players face, u will really see they all meant business unlike our Bafana Bafana team, Chipolopolo all d way
Stemele, Kuphumla

After almost 2 months break I hope PSL teams learned from Chipolopolo that its not about the name on the back of a jersey but commitment that wins you games. People have been complaining about Bobby not reinforcing his team, hopefully the boys will repay the faith shown to them by delivering consistently starting with the Cosmos game. With/without big-name signings, let's rise higher Makhosi!
Ngoako Phooko Ngwanallela

What a nail biting final! Chipolopolo honoured their 1993 fallen heroes in style by humiliating the once favourites Ivory Coast in penalties after the game ended nill apiece, thanks to Drogba by missing a penalty. They made me swallow my words. Thanks to Zambia for restoring their and the whole southern African's countries pride.
Sipho Chirenje, Berea JBG

I would to take this opportunity to congratulate the Zambian squad for Afcon. No one ever gave them a chance to win. Well done Chipolopolo, Southern Africa is proud of you.
Simon Mogashoa, Ivory Park

I am a great supporter of changes in football domination. In Spain, if R Madrid can maintain their healthy lead till 30 games, then the title will be theirs to lose. In England, Spurs will definitely beat Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool to the bronze medal. No matter what happens there, the title will go to Manchester. In Africa, the Chipolopolo have done it with players with PSL experience! What a way of honouring the dead!
Amos Tshukudu, Ga Maria

The game started on Sunday and finished on Monday, wow! I salute you Zambia, you defied all the odds and silenced the doubting Thomases. You won that Cup for the fallen heroes of 1993, for the SADC as a whole. Big names were outclassed by "no name" team.
Vusumuzi Gcuma, Emlazi

Well done to Zambia! Southern Africa is proud of you. What a dramatic AFCON 2012 with heavy weights in Nigeria, Cameroon, Egypt failing to qualify and Bafana fiasco added to the drama. Mamaduo and his team won the game in the studio while Chipolopolo did business in the field.
Teboho Maseru

Well done to Chipololo Zambia it was really hard boys, a game that was played 2 days (Sunday and Monday) hope our bafana has learnt a thing or two and they will fight hard to keep the trophy in the southern africa
Siyabulela dzingwe e bizana

Give a football administration to a footballer not a politician than everything will fall in place. Kalusha is a true example.
Andile Makhathini, Brackendowns

I would like to congratulate the 2012 Afcon Champions Zambia National Team! It was through hard work, determination and team work that led them to victory! Even though it was decided by penalties (8-7)? It was Quality Vs Quality! Chipolopolo!
Richmphiwa Malatsoane, Makgakgapatse

The cooper bullets (ZAMBIA) are surely the KINGS OF AFRICA!
Mokhena Kamohelo, Hennenman

Chipolopolo ya baba! Beating african strongest team and no 1 in africa, is not easy. i am speechless we congratulate our neighbours zambia for the victory. You deserve it more than anyone. I’m sure the 1993 memory will rest in peace. You delivered guys. Ayeeeee chipolopolo ayeeee.

I can’t wait for the big league to resume on Wednesday, Masandawana gives us a valentines present, we‘ve been starving for the past month
Stemele, Kuphumla

One is reminded of the proverb 'you can take a horse to water, but you can't make the horse drink'. The campaign should be allowed to wither on the vine. It is time to stop the charade of pre-match handshakes but Suarez refused Patrice Evra's proffered hand could synonymous as disgrace to the beautiful game, his gesture was unacceptable. I think English football should be under-scrutiny from Fifa to cub the incident happened at Old Trafford (should be condemn). However, stupendous Rooney astonishing goals has completely changed people perception.
Wandile "Wara" Mtana, Uitenhage

Congrats to the dark horses of the tourney (Zambia) after defeating Africa's No.1 and the hot favourites the Elephants. With just ordinary young hungry squad, Chipolopolo shocked the world and I hope Bafana and South Africans learnt a huge lesson. As long you believe nothing is impossible and that was Zambia's main secret weapon
Willy Makwakwa, Shihosana

Let me part of the multitudes of football supporters around the continent to congratulate Zambian national football team for claiming Africa's prestigious biannual tournament. They played well and they deserve it. They've shown what unity, hard work and dedication can do. I also want to applause Kalusha Bwala for turning around the Zambian football association. Its shows that with the right people in leadership position everything else is possible. Well done Chipolopolo, SADC is proud of you...!
Kabelo Ramokoka, Protea Glen

Congratulations to Chipolopolo for winning the Afcon and making sure the Elephants remain chokers. I'm sure your fallen heroes are happy for you guys. May this be a learning curve for us South Africans.
Thulang Mariti

No matter how good the twenty eight man squad is, a coach always stick to the same eleven. Players can complain all they want, once that team is finalised you're only gonna play when injuries and suspensions creep in. All around the world it's the same thing if you make the
Thulang Mariti

They said they wanted it more than anyone else and they got it these ordinary team have become stars in one month. Bafana just pay that sangoma.
George Mosamape

Congratulations to the Chipolopolo for clinching the Orange AFCON cup on Sunday. What a display buy the Zambians. As for Chansa, the man maturing with every game he plays. Big names doesn't win games as the Ivorians were favourite to win the cup. Shapa Zambia shapaaaaaaaaa!!
Goodwill Masinge, Hoveni-Xibababeni

Some commentators/pundits wrongly predicted that Cote D'Ivore would annihilate Zambia with an absolute ease and it turned out the opposite. Fact that the game got determined through spot-kicks attest that Chipolopolo were never cowed by the physically gifted Ivoirians whatsoever. This triumph depict the evolvement of football in the continent, since powerhouses appear to had relinquish their dominance, cognisant of how countries such as Cameroon, Nigeria, Egypt and South Africa dismally to even qualify. Congratulations are in order for the Zambians for a stellar job well done.
Loward Ziga-Khosa, Nkuri-Tomu, Giyani

Team and hard work pays, i would like to congratulate the Zambians for becoming the new AFCON champs. Credit must be given to the whole team and for showing commitment to the nation. They respect the emblem of the country unlike Bafana Bafana always playing for rewards.
Nkosinathi Sibande, Kagiso

I know i will sound like just another CR7 fan hating on Messi, but surely the events of this past weekend should raise the issue yet again. La pulga atomica fails without Xavi Iniesta, that shouldn't even be a debate anymore! I will continue to call for him to move from Barcelona to prove himself or be found out. Pele (Santos) , Maradona (Napoli), they were not playing for teams full of stars, they were just making magic happen all by themselves in those teams! Messi must move to Juventus and prove how good he is!
VB Mabasa

Sundowns Supporters should defy media speculations and biased reporting support the team on their march to ABSA Premiership crown, starting with the AmaZulu’s game at Moses Mabhida this evening, Downs need 32 points to cancel any challengers. Let's bag 3 points at Usuthu then another 3 points when Jomo visit the Capital on Sunday? It’s time boys are separated from men?
Jeff Mahinyahinya, Tembisa

The Super Chipolopolo is the way to go, they had belief, dedication and teamwork. South Africa must learn to do its stuff, Zambia qualified without any help from South Africa, they won the Nations Cup for themselves, not for SADC. Why are we having xenophobia if we care about our neighbours.
Wandes, eSoweto

What a sporting weekend with all the upsets and drama which occurred. The Suarez incident was a low point for the club, football and the player himself, he has no self respect. The Afcon concluded with Zambia lifting the trophy and giving the Southern region a winner after years of failure, hopefully this bodes well for clubs in our region who’ll be competing in the ACL. After watching Surman (Norwich) for some time I believe Shabba has a direct competitor for the left wing position now, this can only bode well for Pitso. As for Schillo, he knows where his home is now. Barca lost and I think they’ve played too many matches so fatigue was bound to creep in, not that I’m unhappy anyway. Just to get back to the Afcon, with all due respects to our premier competition, the lack of match attendance was starling it reminded me of the PSL. This goes to show that when it comes to organisation we are still lacking, there are just too many issues that CAF need to address. Nonetheless congratulations once again to Chipolopolo.
Odwa Matinise

They might not have so called 'superstars' but their will to win, courage to compensate their short-comings, dedication to honour their 1993's heroes make them united. Let me honour them with AFCON cup and certificate of merit & re-name them Gold Bullets! COSAFA region is proud of Chipololo.
Mashilo 'Shakes' Legobye, Makapanstad

Pitso must swallow his pride and bring Benni back to SA’s frontline. Let’s forget the past for the sake of the country. He’s got everything a coach would want, from his passes to his goals. Pitso is a member of the ZCC church and should therefore have a better understanding of forgiveness.
Lerato Ramothobe, Matwabeng Senekal

First let me thank the SABC/SS4 for showing us the game. What a game though no one scored during the playing time. Credit to the goalkeepers which I think Mweene is a contender for player of the tournament. For Drogba to miss I think it was one of those days because if he had given it to anyone & that 1 miss we will still be blaming him for not taking responsibility, so please let’s not talk after a miss. Drogba is the best. Congratulations to Zambia I told my colleague. Chipolopolo. Mayuka, Mayuka Mayuka!

Benard paker is better than mccathy! The problem with south african is that if a player is doesn't score he is bad, they don't care how many assist he makes

CHIPOLOPOLO! What game against the Ivorians. You were underdogs going to that game, many people tipped Ivory coast to win the cup, me included. King Mweene, Chansa & everyone who is plying his trades in the psl, bring that experience to our league to make it more interesting. THULEBONA DLAMINI, CENTOCOW, eBAZINI.

I thout zambia was playing for zambian flag not southafrica, if their ranking goes up the southern african team don't climb the ladder as well. Sorry bafana banyana,u failed to qoulify thanks to your arrogance and your blank coach. U guys need a player in the mould of eric tinkler, linda bothelizi, shoes mosweu and doctor khumalo.
