Modric To Manchester?
30 July 2013
Reports in the British media claim that Manchester United have turned their transfer attentions to Luka Modric.
Croatian international midfielder Modric has only been playing for Real Madrid for one season, after his drawn out move there from Tottenham Hotspur.
With Los Blancos now engaged in yet another transfer wrangle with Spurs as they seek to sign Gareth Bale for a world record fee, United are said to believe Modric is ripe for the picking.
United have had their midfield ambitions burned twice already this transfer season, after target Thiago Alcantara chose to move to Bayern Munich, and Barcelona rejected two bids for Cesc Fabregas.
And so according to The Times, the Red Devils have now added Modric to their transfer agenda.
Reports suggest that United are willing to part with £25 million in order to bring Modric back to the English Premier League.
Real Madrid have an extravagance of midfield riches, and so Modric- who failed to nail down a regular starting berth at the Bernabeu last season- could consider the grass at Old Trafford to be greener.
With reports emerging that Nani could be sold to Monaco, United suddenly face the prospect of having a depleted first-team squad, and so manager David Moyes is showing more signs of transfer urgency.
"Undoubtedly we are hoping to add to it [the squad],” he said.
“I am quite confident we will do, certainly before the window shuts.
“We have got until September 2."
