Giroud Ready To Meet Montpellier
20 November 2012
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has found the form that made him a smash hit at Montpellier last season, just in time for the Gunners’ Champions League clash with his old team.
The French international says he is looking forward to pitting his wits against his former team-mates.
Giroud made a slow start to life in England, but has now found his stride.
He scored his seventh goal of the season in Arsenal’s morale boosting win over Spurs last weekend, and will walk onto the pitch to face his old colleagues with his head held high.
"I'll be happy to see them again. This year, things have not gone quite so well for them - they have had less success, but they are getting better,” Giroud said, ahead of Montpellier’s visit to the Emirates.
"It's a must-win match for us, but Montpellier have nothing to lose now they are already eliminated. We have to be careful as that's when some teams are most dangerous.
"They didn't become champions of France with no talent. We must not take anything for granted."
Speaking to the RTL radio station, Giroud added that Arsenal’s big win over Spurs was just the tonic the stuttering Gunners needed.
"This was a great performance in a derby,” he said.
“Lately, we have lost points stupidly, but this was good."
