Fergie Snipes At Messi For Emotional CR7
14 February 2013
Cristiano Ronaldo admits to feeling emotional last night, after facing his old club Manchester United with Real Madrid.
United struggled to contain CR7 during the first half, when he was simply beastly in the air and scored the equaliser with a textbook leaping header.
But he did not celebrate excessively as a mark or respect, and while he seemed to be everywhere on the pitch for the rest of the game, his influence on the tie waned thereafter.
At full-time, CR7 visited his old team-mates in the away dressing room, and acknowledged his emotions had played a part in his performance.
"I was in Manchester for six years, so tonight was very emotional for me," said Ronaldo. "I scored a goal but I didn't celebrate out of respect.
"Maybe United are favourites now, maybe not, anything can happen. Sometimes we are better away than at home, so we will see.
"It will be amazing to play at Old Trafford again after four years. It will be another emotional night."
Meanwhile, United manager Alex Ferguson still clearly has a soft spot for the player he nurtured, who then became one of the world’s best.
The Scot had words of praise for his old charge’s performance, and even aimed a supportive little dig at Ronaldo’s bête noir, Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
"I spoke to him (Ronaldo) and he is sitting in our dressing room now, talking to the lads,” Fergie said after the match.
"He had six years with us and I am proud of how he flourished.
"I blamed Patrice Evra for not challenging for his goal until I saw the replay and felt a bit stupid.
"His knee is about as high as Evra's head - phenomenal. I don't think any other player in the world can do that, certainly not Messi."

Fergie can suck up as much as he wants bt Messi is the best in the world, that's y he won the world players award 4 times in a Row. Foootball does nt revolve around Fergie, foot ball is nt Man U.

@Hlubzin ofcourse cule dat 2002 WC final match as well is 1 of my fav 4 obvious reasons, I guess de is too many to mention, ofcourse Rivaldo n Ronaldo combination was unstoppable, I somehow feel dat in 2006 WC maybe Brazil cud have done better if Rivaldo was de bcos it looked like Ronaldo missed his influence, I know R9 was fat n critics were on his case about it but he scored goals n proved dem wrong, obviously Rivaldo was also slower bcos of age den but his brain was not I feel he cud have made a difference with his experience n BMT.

@the rock (Cbucsok) and Rijkaad (Barca 4 sky)..The Rivaldo moment 4 me Was WC02 final where he made Ronaldo look good. The entire Tournament Khan had considerd only 1 goal but he cudn't handle a thunderous Rivaldo shot spitn it 4 Ronaldo 2 tap it home. And the 2nd goal arrived when he outclassed Khan with a dummy 4 Ronaldo 2 once again pounce on an open net...
