Drogba Joins Galatasaray
28 January 2013
Galatasaray have announced the signing of Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba on a one-and-a-half year deal.
The former Chelsea star has been linked with a return to European football after he left Stamford Bridge for China at the end of last season.
The Blues had reportedly seen a late bid to bring the legend back to the club turned down as the Turkish giants won the race for his signature.
Drogba struggled to settle at the Chinese super club with a power struggle causing conflict which has now led to the departure of both Drogba and his former teammate Nicholas Anelka.
"Big clubs can reach for higher targets with bigger goals," the club's president Unal Aysal commented on the deal.
"Drogba said that he was very happy to play for a big club like Galatasaray in the future. Drogba met our coach and decided to come to Galatasaray."
Drogba is currently on international duty with the Elephants in South Africa for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The striker was also linked with Italian sides AC Milan and Juventus.

It would have been nice to see him make a return like Jay Z or Michael Jordan . Gala got a legend in their team Together with Sniejder , Yilmaz , Eboue and that Brazilian who scored a cracker against manure , i see Gala causing some upsets in the UCL .

@Lotus: Arsenal have never won UCL before+they have never won a single title in the last 8years. @krb20: Juventus have already signed Anelka, so it would be a waste of money to add a 7th striker. @njinjie8: Isnt two teams? Shenhua to Gala?.
