Demba Deal Is "Done" - Pardew
03 January 2013
Demba Ba will be departing Newcastle United for Chelsea with the North East club declaring that the player leaves with their blessing.
The Blues had earlier been given permission to talk to the Senegal international after triggering a release clause in his contract with a £7m bid.
Alan Pardew spoke to the press before Newcastle’s game against Everton, for which Ba was withdrawn.
"It's done. He will go to Chelsea with our blessing," Pardew told Sky Sports. "He has done fantastic for us and it's not a bad thing, all the uncertainty is now done and we can move on.
"The ball was always in Demba's court. But this club is bigger than any player for sure."
Discussions between Chelsea and Ba broke down earlier this week after the two parties were unable to reach an agreement.
It now seems the Blues have almost certainly settled terms with the former Hoffenheim hit-man who has netted 13 goals already this season.
Newcastle released a statement which read: "Newcastle United can confirm Chelsea Football Club has made an official offer for Demba Ba which has triggered the release clause in the player's contract.
"The club has given the player permission to speak to Chelsea FC and therefore he will not be included in the squad for tonight's game with Everton."

I think this move is to get the best out of Torres not taking anything away from Demba Ba but Benitez knows how best to utilise Torres(proof the number goals he has scored since the arrival of Benitez)

@Mdarkisto: It's quite obvious, he is going to warm the bench. He has been given so many chances to prove his worth and he has failed to do so.

I do want Falcao , he is in the top 5 best players but the price tag scares me . You know with FFP , you cant just spent £60m every transfer window.

@ibhova Anelka came in as a stop gap when Didi went to Afcon and he became the league's top scorer and the following Didi scored 36 goals as his partner . Anelka cost £3m , i think Demba will have the same effect . this exotic players that cost more than £30m like Crespo , Shevchenko and Torres always fail at Chelsea thats why i have doubts about Falcao and Cavani .
