CSKA Snatch Late Draw
21 February 2012
A debut goal from Pontus Wernbloom deep into stoppage time allowed CSKA Moscow to hold Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw in their UEFA Champions League last 16 first-leg in Russia on Tuesday.
Cristinao Ronaldo's 28th minute effort seemed to have secured a 1-0 advantage for the Spanish giants but Moscow kept their hopes alive with the last kick of the game.
Alan Dzagoev had a good chance for the Russians in the seventh minute when he latched onto a cross from Georgy Shennikov but his volley went just wide.
Sergey Chepchugov then produced a stunning double save to deny Gonzalo Higuain and Sami Khedira nine minutes later.
Ronaldo would go on to break the deadlock in the 28th minute when he smashed the ball home from inside the area after CSKA had failed to clear. It was the Portugal international's 21st Champions League goal in just 29 appearances.
Chances were hard to come by in the tough conditions with temperatures well below zero but Madrid were looking the more dangerous of the two sides. Ronaldo would put the ball on a plate for Jose Callejon six minutes after the break but he slammed his shot wide.
Sergio Ramos then tested Chepchugov with a powerful header before the stopper had to react quickly to deny Ronaldo a second on the night.
The visitors would waste one more chance when Ronaldo dragged his shot wide after it fell to him on the edge of the area with eight minutes to go.
Madrid looked certain to leave with a valuable away win but with just seconds to go they failed to deal with a cross into the area and it fell for Wernbloom who snatched the draw with a superb volley.

That was not Barca Madrid it was Moscow. Basel pitched up with Barca shirts and they knocked Man U out, now Moscow are wearing like Barca and Madrid became scared. I will put my head on the block and say Moscow will knock Madrid out. 2-2 will be the scoreline at Bernabeu. The most expensive squad in th.e world failed to beat Moscow. Cristian Tello, remember that name Madrid.

I have always thot that it wasn't proper to call some fans stupid but now i do believe there are some stupid fans of the game. How can someone keep on asking how many penalties Cr7 has scored trying to discredit him. Haven't we seen world cups, Afcon being won by penalties. Zambia is basking in the glory of a cup they won on penalties so can we say they did not win. Some team were knocked out of tournaments so can we say they were robbed
