CR7 Could Have Played For Barca

It is the stuff of football fantasy to wonder what magic would ensue if Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo played for the same team.
By joining Real Madrid and making it his life’s work to prove he is better than La Pulga Atomica, CR7 has probably ensured that he will never line up alongside his little bête noir.
However, there was a time in the past when the most devastating forward partnership the sport has ever seen could have been created.
Former Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, claims that Barca were offered the services of CR7 by his agent, before the Portuguese step-over king signed for Manchester United.
But Laporta says Barca’s transfer dealings at the time meant that they did not have enough money to strike a deal for Ronaldo.
It was 2003, and Liverpool were also keeping tabs on Ronaldo.
But as it happened, he joined United, helped changed the trajectory of Premier League history, and won his world record transfer to the Bernabeu a few seasons later.
It could all have been different however, had Barca had just a few more Euros in the bank when CR7 was dangled in front of them.
"(Agent Jorge) Mendes offered him to us, for even cheaper than to Manchester United, due to some transfers we had done for him, including Deco," Laporta told Spanish radio station, El Primer Toque.
"But at that moment we did not have the resources after signing Ronaldinho, (Rafael) Marquez and (Ricardo) Quaresma."
Another current Real player who could have Barca man is Kaka, if Laporta is to be believed.
He says that AC Milan owner, Silvio Berlusconi, once tried to swap Kaka for his compatriot Ronaldinho, when the buck-toothed ball wizard was still setting La Liga on fire for Barca, and Kaka was playing for the Rossoneri.
"Berlusconi tried to swap him (Kaka) for Ronaldinho, but at that moment it was not an option for us as he was a key player," Laporta said.
"It was an offer made during a directors’ meal. It was half in joke and half serious, but he wanted to see if we would be interested.
“It seemed a pity as it then looked like he was going to be a success at Madrid, but that has not happened, although he is an excellent player."

It is a good thing he did not go to barca. ManU and RM have allowed CR7 to show how great he really is. He doesn't have to rely on a good team to excel but the team relies on his greatness to excel. CR7 is the best player in the world because he did not go to Barca. Barca would have forced him to pass to Messi like they are doing to Villa. This team is only for robots who have no opinion at all hence Ibra left them much earlier than anticipated.
