Four Polokwane City Players Killed
11 November 2012
News reaching the Siya crew is that four Polokwane City players were killed in a fatal motor vehicle accident earlier today, on Sunday November 11.
The team was travelling back from their home NFD fixture against FC AK, just a few kilometers outside of Polokwane, when the accident happened.
Called for comment on the tragic news, City director, Julia Mogaladi, said that she was in shock and could not talk at the time. She was brief in her statement, explaining that she was not with the team.
"I also have just received the news. I haven't confirmed because I was not at the game as I am in Jo’burg. Can we talk later as I am in deep shock right now or call me tomorrow then I can confirm with you what exactly happened," Mogaladi said.
Meanwhile Johnny Mogaladi, who was is in Polokwane at the time of the accident, confirmed the sad news, however would not reveal the names of the players who were lost in the accident.
He explained that the players’ families were yet to be informed of the tragic event, before cutting the call short. "I can't talk much now as we are still busy here but as soon as we finish I will call you back and give you all the information you need," Mogaladi expressed.
Polokwane City, previously known as Bay United, relocated to Polokwane last season, from Port Elizabeth, after Johnny Mogaladi bought the team.
Soccer-Laduma send our heartfelt condolences to Polokwane City, the players’ families and friends.
