How do I WAP enable my phone?

Choose your mobile operator below for insructions to setup WAP on your phone



Vodacom Customers

  1. On your cellphone, dial *111#.
  2. Select option 5 (phone settings) from the menu that follows.
  3. Select option 1 to choose your cellphone make and model from the list, or opt to have Vodacom identify the phone for you.
  4. In both cases, simply follow the steps as provided to have your WAP settings activated.
  5. You will receive an SMS with your settings. Save these settings.
  6. If prompted for a password - 0000
  7. If any of the above steps fail, simply retry.
  8. Still having trouble? Call Vodacom’s call centre on 082 111 or visit a Vodacom outlet near you.

MTN Customers

  1. On your cellphone, dial *123#.
  2. Select option 1 (phone setup) from the menu that follows.
  3. Select option 3 (WAP).
  4. Connection settings will be sent to your phone. Save these settings.
  5. If prompted for a password - 1234
  6. If any of the above steps fail, simply retry.
  7. Still having trouble? Call MTN’s call centre; dial 808 (contract) or 173 (pay as you go) or visit a MTN outlet near you.

  1. On your cellphone, dial *111#.

Virgin Mobile Customers

  1. When first inserting Virgin Mobile SIM into cellphone you'll receive an SMS asking you if you would like to accept Virgin Mobile's settings.
  2. If you reply 'Yes', your settings for WAP can be automatically downloaded and installed on your cellphone.
  3. To manually request WAP settings, go to 'Virgin Mobile' menu which you will find on main menu or applications menu of your cellphone.
  4. Select 'Virgin Mobile'.
  5. Select 'Virgin Settings' and reply 'Yes' when asked if you'd like to download them.
  6. GPRS/3G can only be activated by the person in whose name the contract was taken out.
