City Preparing To Off Load Players

Manchester City are trying to trim their squad down and are expected to off-load close to 30 players, according to Europe’s leading football agents.
The squad is too big for head coach Roberto Mancini to work with and the exodus of players would see a welcomed relief on the heavily burdened wage bill. Mancini is expected to announce his 25-man squad for the upcoming season in the near future, paving an exit for veterans as well as some of the younger players.
As revealed by an ESPN Soccernet source a mass exodus is expected. “From first team squad players, through to the juniors and the kids, the club have so many players on their books, it is incredible,” said the source.
City has invested large sums of money in players since their Abu Dhabi take over and have offered the players big-money contracts. This has put the club in a difficult situation as the big-earners have little intention of leaving the cash cow.
“The club is devoting a lot of their time contacting clubs to place players on loan for a year, or to sell them,” added the source.
Another source revealed that the big-earners are happy to be earning their big figure wages and have no intention on changing the current situation, even if it means that they get no first team action.
“Its a case of having to pay them off, offer them huge sums, millions, just to leave. Or they are going to be forced to subsidise the wages of players they sell.”
“There is no doubt that City are going to lose a lot of money, on a lot of players. If it carries on like this, then in four or five years, Manchester City would have blown £1 billion on players.”
