Wareley Scores For IBV
Former Ajax Cape Town striker Danien Wareley has kick-started his career in Iceland by scoring back-to-back goals for his new team IBV Vestmannaeyja.
Wareley spent last season with Ikapa Sporting but the club was unable to keep him on due to financial constraints. They gave him their blessing when he requested his clearance and the opportunity to play in Iceland arose.
He signed a five-month contract with IBV and has come on as a substitute in two games before making his first full appearance where he scored a goal in the 65th minute. In his second game, Wareley came on as a substitute and scored in the 50th minute.
The Siya crew spoke to the player who said, “I’ve had great games. The team is happy as we are in a position that the club hasn’t been in, in something like 15 years. Last season they finished just above relegation and now we’re in joint top position, seven points clear of the team behind us.”
