Becks Considers Hammers Offer

David Beckham has promised West Ham that he will seriously consider their offer for him to end his playing days at the East London club.

35-year-old Beckham is currently contracted to MLS club LA Galaxy, but Hammers co-owner David Gold is keen to bring the former England captain back to his childhood neighbourhood for his football swansong.

The Hammers also believe that Beckham's high profile can help the club secure a move to London's soon to be built Olympic stadium in the future.

Beckham is obviously still a decent player, but by the time he finishes his stint at the Galaxy he will be 36, and West Ham's desire to sign him smacks of a publicity stunt, more than a wise footballing choice.

"We had some discussions with David's agents a few months ago and it was a possibility," Gold said in the British press.

"He's preoccupied with a few projects but he's promised he will give every consideration to the possibility of joining us."
