Orlando Pirates officially announced the signing of Wayne Sandilands. The former Platinum goalkeeper joins Bucs from Sundowns on a three-year deal.
Supporters shared different thoughts on Wayne's move to Pirates with some Juju's welcoming him and expecting him to go straight to the starting line-up next season, but others think that he is not better than what Pirates already have for that number one jersey.
Some even think it would better to sign a younger keeper like Brilliant Khuzwayo, as opposed to 33-year-old bench warmer.
Personally, Wayne is not a bad goalkeeper but he's not better than the goalkeepers Pirates have on their books. Yes, they conceded many goals, but even Khune, Navas, Bravo or De Gea would collect their six mabone under Fernandez.
Rowen Fernandez was a good goalkeeper at Chiefs under Chiefs legendary goalkeeper coach who produced nothing but great keepers. Remembering well the six mabone started by Fernandez in his first game in Germany for BvB and in PSL's time, only goalkeepers who are coached by Fernandez collected six mabone in Pirates colours.
Lastly, all the keepers who conceded six in Bucs never conceded more than four goals at professional level up until they are trained by Rowen. So if Wayne concedes six it will not be because he is a bad keeper but because he has a bad teacher.
Pirates’ poor goalkeeping is due to bad coaching, soon you will see it when Wayne collects his six mabone.
